At Hometown Academy, every day is thoughtfully planned to give children a sense of security and routine while leaving plenty of room for creativity, exploration, and discovery. Our schedules vary slightly by age group, but each one is designed to nurture the whole child — socially, emotionally, physically, and academically — while providing rich, hands-on STEM experiences.
Below is an example of what a typical day might look like at Hometown Academy.
Example Daily Schedule
7:00 AM – 8:30 AM | Arrival & Morning Centers
Children are greeted warmly as they arrive and settle into engaging center activities — building blocks, sensory tables, art stations, and early STEM challenges to spark curiosity right away.
8:30 AM – 9:00 AM | Morning Meeting
The class gathers to greet each other, review the day’s plan, and introduce the theme or STEM focus for the day. Songs, stories, and group discussions help build community and language skills.
9:00 AM – 10:15 AM | Learning Blocks & STEM Stations
Small-group activities tailored to each age group’s development. Younger children may explore sorting and sensory play, while older children might code simple robots, test engineering projects, or conduct hands-on science experiments.
10:15 AM – 10:45 AM | Snack & Conversation Time
Healthy snacks are served while children enjoy relaxed conversation, practicing social skills and manners.
10:45 AM – 11:45 AM | Outdoor Play & Gross Motor Activities
Children enjoy fresh air in safe, well-equipped outdoor spaces. Activities include climbing, riding, ball games, nature walks, and science exploration in our outdoor learning areas.
11:45 AM – 12:15 PM | Creative Arts & Expression
Music, movement, visual arts, and dramatic play activities encourage self-expression and imagination.
12:15 PM – 12:45 PM | Lunch
A time for healthy eating, conversation, and practicing independence in routines like handwashing and self-serving when appropriate.
12:45 PM – 2:30 PM | Rest & Quiet Time
Younger children nap, while older children enjoy quiet reading, puzzles, and calming activities that give them a chance to recharge.
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM | Afternoon Snack
Nutritious snacks fuel up children for the rest of the afternoon.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM | Enrichment Activities & STEM Challenges
Rotating activities may include gardening, cooking, extended STEM projects, guest visitors, or cultural experiences.
4:00 PM – 5:30 PM | Afternoon Centers & Outdoor Play
Children choose from a variety of engaging centers or head outdoors for more gross motor play. Teachers use this time to extend learning through play-based conversations and activities.
5:30 PM – 6:00 PM | Wrap-Up & Dismissal
A calm end to the day, with opportunities to reflect on what we learned, share with friends, and prepare for pick-up.
