Curriculum

Fine & Gross Motor Development

At Hometown Academy, we believe in fostering a love for learning through hands-on, play- based activities that promote creativity, social skills, and emotional growth. Our curriculum promotes cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Activities are designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and teamwork among children. An organized daily routine is established, where children feel secure and have an understanding of what to expect throughout the day.

Language & Literacy

Communication begins at birth and continues through early childhood. Children are continuously learning how to communicate effectively, express their thoughts and feelings, and understand the world around them. Our Educators enhance this learning by engaging children in conversations, asking open-ended questions, and encouraging them to express themselves verbally. Through books, dialogue, art, songs, social interactions, and playtime, children have the opportunity to practice their conversational skills, share ideas, and learn to communicate effectively with each other.

Math & Science

Having an introduction to math and science is crucial for fostering foundational skills that children will build upon throughout their academic careers. Both not only contribute to cognitive development but also enhance critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a
sense of curiosity about the world. Math is woven throughout daily activities using manipulatives during play and fun activities that provide tactile experiences that enhance their understanding.

Children are naturally inquisitive, and creating an environment where they can ask questions and explore answers through hands-on experiments is vital in early years. At Hometown Academy, children will collaborate through science experiments, books, guided discussions, and observations that can help develop skills for scientific inquiry.

Social & Emotional Development

Social and emotional development is a critical aspect of early childhood education that lays the foundation for children’s future learning. Our educators create an environment where children thrive through positive interactions, cooperative play, and essential experiences that help develop relationships with others. Our learning environments promote self awareness and discussions about feelings where children feel safe and confident exploring their social world.

Learning Through Play

What may seem like a leisure activity is indeed a viral component in early development for children. Children explore new ideas and challenges, and develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills through various types of play. Structured activities tailored to help children learn how to follow directions and work together are daily occurrences, while guided play challenges children to communicate, enhance their emotional awareness, and work on resolutions with their peers. Free play opportunities allow children to “be children”, meaning they choose how they want to engage with their peers and their surroundings. This fosters creativity and imaginative thinking! These forms of play allow children to use their different styles of learning and needs to be a part of their daily love of learning.
